Segway fun ride
The self-balancing two-wheel Segway has arrived in Phuket. And with it comes a fun way to experience the future way of human portability. Phuket Segway Fun Ride start from the newly built Jungceylon Commercial Complex in Patong to a certain destination within the area.

The Segway travels at speeds of up to 20 km/hour, making it a popular ride for city dwellers around the globe. Chieo Larn Dam, a 3,420 sq-km protected lake formed through massive flooding of a rainforest valley in southern Thailand, is the popular place to kayak in the south. It is part of the Khao Sok National Park. Groups of children on educational trips frequent the area and tourists also come to the place very often. Tour operators such as Paddle Asia offer kayak tours to this southern natural attraction.  

While learning to kayak, the children gain respect for nature and conservation. They leave refreshed on the importance of nature and taught about their roles in its preservation.

Elephant trekking
Never leave Thailand without an elephant ride. Elephant trekking is bragged as a fantastic way to see the world at a higher level – on an elephant’s back. A ride takes you safely through thick jungles, rugged terrains, mountain and hill slopes and through cool brooks. Often, an elephant show concludes your ride.

Another way to relax animatedly is to hop on a guided horseback tour. It offers great sightseeing more brisk than the elephant thing. On the horse tracks are blue lagoons, marshland fields and large groves of conifer trees and, of course white, sandy beaches.  

There are three riding clubs in Phuket: Crazy Horse in Nai Han (076-288-795), Phuket Riding Club at Chalong (076-288-213 and Phuket Laguna Riding Club at Bang Thao (076-381-667).

Hash House Harriers

It’s all about running! Join expats on their weekly fun run through dirt roads, jungles, hills and along beaches – with a few beers.

Hashing, as they call it, is designed for a group of individuals to follow a trail from a start point to a finish point, with a distance of about 7 to 10 kilometers.  

Sometimes participants are bussed to a far away starting point and run back to the meeting point which then becomes the end point. Anyone interested should check their official website at phuket-hhh.org.

Biking tour
One way to keep you busy – and healthy – is to join a mountain biking tour, usually offered as half-day tour. Professional bikes, gears, accessory parts and back-up vehicle are to hand.

The fastest growing sport in Southeast Asia, mountain biking in Phuket is your chance to watch the island’s breathtaking landscapes that are not in the normal track.

Whether your interest in Thai food is simple curiosity or seriously wanting to learn the tricks, don't hesitate to join one of the cooking courses available on the island.

Other Things to Do in Phuket

River rafting is an option for kayaking and the most common area where you will find this sort of activity is at the Mae Kok between Thatorn to Chiangrai.
Miniature golf on Phuket's two great courses known as the ‘The Pirate's Cove’ in Patong and The Dino Park set in Karon.
