There are a lot of things to do in Bangkok depending on how much time you have while you are here.
The Grand Palace is an outstanding architectural achievement that also houses the infamous Emerald Buddha, which is the most revered Buddha image in Thailand. When entering, dress code is observed, especially for women. If you are not prepared to dress properly, you will be asked to line at a built-in dressing room at the entrance for a pair of “modest” outfit. To get there, you can either take a taxi, or the Sky train to National Stadium stop and then a taxi from there. The Grand Palace officially opens 8:30 a.m. and closes 3:30 p.m.
The snake farm is located on Rama IV, opposite the Suriawongse Road, and not far from the Pan Pacific Hotel. The closest Sky train stop is SalaDaeng. The shows begin at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. on holidays. Admission is only Bt70. Watching a Thai Boxing (Muay Thai) match in one of the city’s main stadiums is also a must for discerning visitors. One of the main stadiums is Ratchadamnoen Stadium on Ratchadamnoen Nok Road and is open Monday and Wednesday at 6 p.m., Thursday at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Sundays at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The other main stadium is Lumpini Stadium on Rama IV Road, and fights are every Tuesday and Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 5 p.m. You wouldn’t want to miss shopping in Bangkok! Most of the shops have some amazing discounts, sometimes as much as 80 percent off, even with high quality goods. For spa buffs, Thailand has some of the best spas in the world, and Bangkok offers an easy find. Traditional Thai massage and other types of treatment are available at some of the best prices you will find anywhere. Of course nobody survives Bangkok without eating. But eating in Thailand, in itself, is fun. Restaurants in the city offer a real culinary adventure and treat, with an amazing variety of culinary delights to explore – be it Thai food, Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Mediterranean, American and European specialties, you will not always have the kind of food you want.
Lastly, Bangkok is famous around the world for its entertainment and night life. Bangkok's nightlife reputation is wild and rowdy. But at the same time it's relaxed, safe, enjoyable and great fun! Rapidly establishing itself as Asia's capital of cool, Bangkok's diverse nightlife scene features everything from excellent live music and good jazz clubs to ultra cool bars, trendy clubs and great restaurants - and go far beyond its sleazy and naughty image.
