| The Big Buddha |

Big Buddha or Phra Yai (that has the same literal meaning) is the most impressive structure of Phra Yai Temple on the northern coast of Samui. The Buddha image was constructed in 1972 to inspire those who arrives or leaves the island of Buddha's teachings as the image could be seen several kilometers out. Since then, it has become one of the most seen image of Samui island. The huge buddha image is 15 meters high and sits atop a mount that overlooks the northern bay. Visitors have to walk a series of steps to reach the buddha. The temple itself is easy to reach and Big Buddha not far from the entrance as the temple itself is relatively small. There are no fees to view Big Buddha. Comments
